How Self-Care Sundays Can Change Your Life

Have you ever had a week start off great and then unravel before your eyes? I have. Managing work, our teenage boys, sports, unexpected deadlines/homework, buying groceries, even fitting in a little social time can sometimes be overwhelming and exhausting. If we aren't prepared for the week, we can waste time, resources and create unnecessary stress on ourselves and those around us.

Self-care Sunday is a powerful action that helps me save time, keep my goals on track and ensure what’s important gets taken care of. It’s helped eliminate impulse purchases, food choices and can take the emotions out of daily decisions.  Instead of my schedule controlling me, I practice Self-care Sundays and experience a more productive, calmer week.

If you’re single or in a relationship, commit to spending 15 minutes every Sunday to review your schedule, budget, meals, responsibilities, and goals. Sometimes my husband is involved in this process but quite often it’s just me & that’s ok too. Does your schedule reflect your top priorities? Don’t forget to schedule in self-care and things that bring you joy. # Self-care Sunday

Here are a few suggestions that have helped me create an awesome week!

  1. Start with listing your top 5 priorities (values).

  2. Open your calendar, evaluate your schedule, reflecting on the past month.

  3. Are the priorities you listed in #1 showing up in your calendar?

  4. Are there any priorities that you need to schedule?

  5. Are you seeing something in your calendar that you can remove or do less of?
